Sim Isan or Isan Buddhist chapel comes from the way the Isan called the chapel "Sim". The general characteristics of Sims are divided into 2 main types according to the condition of their location, namely Simbok and Simnam. Sinbok located on land and simnam located in the lake or swamp. Most Simnam are built temporarily for temples that have not yet received the consecrated boundaries for building the actual temple. Most Simbok are built permanently on land. In addition, Sim are classified by their age. There are 4 types of Sim, older to new generation including the original Sim with walls, spacious Sim, later generation Sim with walls and hybrid Sim, respectively.
